Darwin Airport Public Art & Environs Design

The proposal is to create a major public art precinct parallel with the façade of the terminal, integrated with the landscaping plan, along with related elements of urban design for functional objects such as seating, bins, bollards & lighting. The Airport’s collection of Tiwi Pukumani poles will be installed in the precinct, & new indigenous & non indigenous works will be commissioned. Larrakia art work will be highlighted together with that of other indigenous communities, denoting Larrakia as Darwins traditional owners.
Tiwi Gardens Affordable Living Complex for Senior Territorians

Funding has been made available to Masonic Homes to build 12 single bedroom, self contained flats providing affordable housing to financially disadvantaged elderly Territorians.
The units will be located next to the "Masonic Homes" existing residential aged care facility.
Mataranka Public Ablution Amenities
Amount Approved (2007) $66,000
New public amenities with disabled access will be built for the Mataranka Community and visiting tourists. The new facilities will lead to a more pleasant "toilet break" experience in Mataranka and a more positive impression of the town.
Kulaluk Mud Crab Farm
Amount Approved (2007) $433,180
The Gwalwa Daraniki Association has received $433,180 from the Regional Partnerships Programme to assist with reconstructing an existing prawn infrastructure into a mud crab farm in the indigenous community Kulaluk in Darwin.
The Kulaluk Mud Crab Farm will grow-out crabs supplied by the NT Government - Darwin Aquaculture Centre for domestic and international markets. This new venture aims to provide training, employment and a secure economic base for the residents of the Kulaluk Community.
This project is linked to a Shared Responsibility Agreement with the NT Office of Indigenous Policy Coordination.
Tiwi College Resource Centre

$743,764 has been approved to the Tiwi Land Council to establish a quality regional residential College to improve the appalling educational outcomes of young Tiwi people.
The site chosen for the College is Pickertaramoor which is central to Melville Island, over the next five years it will develop into the fourth largest community on the islands and will be centre for regional commerce, enterprise, health delivery in additional to education and training. The College is to be a major employer of Tiwi people and form the basis for the renewal of Tiwi culture.
This project is linked to a Shared Responsibility Agreement with the NT Office of Indigenous Policy Coordination.
Nhulunbuy Tyre & Wood Shredder

Project Summary
Located at the Nhulunbuy Waste Management Facility, the Tyre/Wood Shredder is an initiative to recycle tyres to provide landfill as an alternative to burning waste tyres which is environmentally unacceptable. The Gove peninsula including the township of Nhulunbuy generates many domestic and semi commercial tyres plus the mine generates tyres and many pallets and packing crates. Removal offsite due to the area's remoteness is very expensive. Burial is unsuitable due to the volume involved and amount of landfill required.
Islamic Community Facility

Project Summary
The project involves the construction of an Islamic Community facility on the vacant block of land of the Darwin Islamic Centre. This is a culturally unique project as it will provide for a community hall, and a washroom for the ritual washing of deceased local muslims, a facility that existing funeral parlours in Darwin cannot provide. A library type resource room will also be constructed.
Cox Peninsula Emergency Services and Community Centre

Project Summary
The project will provide relief for local residents unable to access medical facilities at the near-by community of Belyuen and will also improve the outlook for elderly and other special needs residents through extension of services to these groups.
The project has a number of core objectives:
- Access to emergency services response (medical, first aid, fire and police)
- The establishment of a venue for key services such as health, recreation & culture, remote communications and visiting professional providers.
- The provision of additional cyclone shelter with accommodation capacity in the region increasing from 77 to 200.
- The provision of a community centre and meeting venue for local and visiting organisations.
- Increasing economic activity in the Cox Peninsula Region.
Coomalie Skate Park

The project is to provide a mobile skateboarding facility for use by the youth of Adelaide River and Batchelor. The mobile skate facility will provide a fun meeting point for social interaction and a physical activity for the youth of the area.
Katherine Multipurpose Skate Park

Project Summary
The project is to develop and build a Multipurpose Skate Park, in the municipality of Katherine, for the Katherine Region. This initiative will provide a range of social and sporting benefits to the youth of Katherine and the region. The multipurpose Skate Park will be an added attraction for communities within the region to make a special visit to town for their youth. It will also provide an alternative for youth that do not play conventional sports and have very limited access to any alternatives within their own communities.
Larrakia Public Art and Design for Lyons Community

The Larrakia Public Art and Design project will be utilized in the creation of Darwin’s new Lyons community. Larrakia images and interpretive stories local to the site, are to be featured in Lyons, to recognize Larrakia culture and history. The goal is to create authentic representation of Larrakia visual art and stories, through applications that are appropriate and enduring, and able to be embraced and appreciated by both the indigenous and non-indigenous community.
Nhulun Interpretive Project

Marthakal Homelands Resource Centre Workshop & Training Facility

This project replaces a workshop which was destroyed by fire. The purpose is to provide a training environment for apprentices in mechanical trades and construction and also to provide an environment suitable for the promotion of small business activities for Yolgnu people. The facility will also incorporate a cyclone shelter.
Daly River (Nauiyu Nambiyu) Workshop
